In the 1950’s and 60’s, Grosset & Dunlap published about 40 books, written by various authors, under the label of “Famous Horse Stories.”
This set includes:
-Ticktock and Jim by Robertson (1948)
-Frog by Colonel S.P. Meek (1933)
-The Sorrel Stallion by Grew (1951)
-Cinch Foot by Hinkle (1938)
-Mountain Pony by Larom (1946)
-Kentucky Derby Winner by McMeekin (1949)
-Justin Morgan Had A Horse by Henry (1945)
-The Magnificent Barb by Faralla (1947)
This beautiful set of collectible vintage hardcovers include several with black and white illustrations. All have linen textured cloth bindings with lettering and detailing on the spine and the "Famous Horse Stories" Title and horseshoe on the cover. (3) Tan with red, (2) Blue with Blue, (3) Green with green. Bindings have some very slight wear and fading. Corners and edges have wear. Binding is tight and text block is secure, pages are in good condition. A few volumes have some crushing. All in good condition with no rips. A couple of books have markings from a previous owner on the front endpapers. See photos.
